Classes

MMA​

 

​Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full contact combat sport that allows the use of both striking and grappling techniques, both standing and on the ground, including boxing, wrestling, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, muay Thai, kickboxing, karate, judo and other styles.
​What to expect:
Warm up and fitness/ conditioning exercises. Pad work using focus mitts, Thai pads and kick shields. Sparring  (please note that you will not be expected to join in with sparring until you feel comfortable to do so, and have the necessary protective equipment).

K-1​

 

​K-1 combines standup techniques from Muay Thai, Karate, Taekwondo,  Kickboxing and traditional Boxing.

What to Expect:

Warm up and fitness/ conditioning exercises. Pad work using focus mitts, Thai pads and kick shields. Sparring  (please note that you will not be expected to join in with sparring until you feel comfortable to do so, and have the necessary protective equipment).

BJJ​

 

​Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport, and a self defence system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting.  It teaches that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using leverage and proper technique. BJJ classes are taught both traditionally and also with no gi.

What to Expect:
A typical Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class is usually 90 minutes long and begins with a light warm up followed by stretching. The students are then paired up and given the opportunity to practice the techniques and positions while the instructor supervises.
